Hate being sick

Well, I went home for the weekend to hang out with the Family. The kids were both sick and I think I picked up a cold from them. But, I figure I will be able to go home early tonight and relax. I really think that I did this to myself though. I spent like 4 days in a row of only a few hours of sleep, and then topped it off with a night of drinking on Friday. But, like I said to my friend Angela, I think the drinking hurt with the cold but helped with my sanity.

So, tonight will be skipping wrestling. Although, I do want to go to the gym today for a light workout. I feel like I need to move around a bit. Too bad there wasn't a park or something near here where I could go for a walk. But, Mississauga is a wasteland, so you can't expect it to have anything that would be good for you. That has been a huge factor in my decision to go to New Zealand. That's right, I've got my offer and I'll be going in June. I just can't work in this city anymore. I need to get out of here. Honestly, when I come back from New Zealand, I may try to go back to NEBS up in Midland. That was a great little town. Or, maybe I'll email up Greg Douglas in Barrie to see if they're doing anything interesting that they need help with. Then I could commute from Midland to Barrie.

At the wrestling competition I was at last weekend, (I weighed in at 167.6lbs) there were a few guys from Barrie Jiu Jitsu, and they did really well. I had no idea there was a grappling gym up there at all.

Orlando Pt 2

Well, I'm officially back from Orlando, and officially sunburned. We got some pretty decent weather while I was down there. Over 21 degrees and sunny for most days. Although, the nights were pretty chilly.

But, the real meat of the story was the competition.

The girls were competing in the Large Senior Girls division. The first day was pretty rough. They went out and everyone tried really hard, but not at the same time. Everything looked out of sync, and not everything stuck. But, we managed to place third, just due to the difficulty of the routine. Then on Day 2, things looked grim. There was some fighting going on among the girls, an injury, and nerves. Then when we ran our practice run, it was offtime, stunts fell, and people didn't tumble. It was awful. Then the girls got on the floor, and blew everyone away. The routine was virtually flawless and they executed it with style and power. This actually pulled us ahead of the next team on the Ladder and left us with the second place overall finish for our division. Not only that, but second place has won us a bid to the NLCC World Championships in May.

Congratulations girls, you did a fantastic job. And a special congratulations to Trista for hitting everything, even with a sprained hand.

Heading to Orlando and other news...

So, last week I had an interview for a job in New Zealand. It seemed to go "OK", but not great. I know it wasn't great, because they haven't called me back yet. So, this leaves me thinking that I'll have to start applying to jobs soon. They still love me here, but I'm not sure if I can handle Mississauga. This city really is a wasteland, although Kombat Arts is still the most amazing martial arts gym I've ever been to. They're having Matt Lindland in to do a seminar this weekend. He's the #1 185lb fighter in the world if you're wondering. And he's following on the tail of BJ Penn, Renata Sobral, Frank Trigg, and Georges St. Pierre, all of who did seminars there in the past year. Plus the head BJJ coach, Mark Bocek, is one of the 10 best grapplers in North America.
Also, I'm heading to Orlando next week with my Cheerleading team. I think the girls will do really well in the competition, they've been training very hard and I know my exercises have been increasing their power output for the past 5 months. Still, one of the girls, Amy, was able to base some partner stunts last weekend that I was unable to perform. So, I'm hoping Orlando will give me a chance to improve my technique. We're staying very close to Disney in a cool looking house with a pool. Oh, and I'll need to get some green food colouring for my beer, as St. Patricks day is that Saturday.
On a final note, I'm going to look at an apartment tonight. I think I'll be staying in the GTA for the next little while, so I might as well have my own place. Plus, if I set up an office, I can write off part of my rent. Huzzah!

Holy Mother F*&%ing S&*t

Wow. What a day. First, the Sens beat Montreal 4-1 to pull ahead of them in the standings. Then, I find out today that Led Zeppelin is touring again!!!!!

That's right, with Jason Bonham on Drums, it could be insane!
I'll keep you posted on details.

Awesome Guitar

Well, I didn't really do much today. I sat around and ate a couple of sandwiches, watched Talladega Nights, and surfed the web. It's weird... I used to enjoy days like today. But, I just wanted to be out doing stuff. Oh well, at least my knee should be good for stunting tomorrow.
Anyways, I found this great guitar piece on youtube.

Sorry, I don't have a youtube account so I don't have the video right in my blog. But, here is also a collection of the 10 best Will Ferrell sketches ever. They don't all work, but there are some golden moments here. Notably Will Ferrell raping Ben Stiller.
